US Apprentice Series 3
September 28, 2006
the third series of the US apprentice tv show started this evening on South African screens.
Donald Trump is back. The apprentice music is back – you feel all motivated just having the apprentice on in the background.
the splitting of the 2 teams into “net worth” (the guys who didn’t go to college and are making 3 times as the guys who do have degrees) and “magna” was legendary – especially since the magna guys lost in the first episode.
i thought danny was entertaining but that trump would never hire him. i was certain he was going to be the first to go.
but it was todd that was voted off.
danny together with another was responsible for the marketing of a new burger king burger – and the marketing theme he came up with was shocking to say the least. playing guitar outside a burger king and letting people throw a golf ball to try go through a hole. it looked unprofessional, and didn’t fit in with burger kings professional (although i’ve seen supersize me so know what really happens)……image…(is that the right way to describe burger king?)
and he dressed like someone who wanted to just draw attention to himself.
the other thing i couldn’t believe is that while they were deciding their company name in their FIRST meeting, he was playing guitar – it was funny, it was entertaining, but he actually disrupted the meeting, and i could see the faces of the other guys couldn’t believe what he was doing!!
very entertaining first episode.
i wanted to find out about his marketing background, so cheated and googled him and quickly found myself on the official nbc site – and the first thing that came up was the overall winner. so the suspense was short lived!
but danny seems to have success in the online world – and appears to be rather successful in the real world – what was impressive is that he studied music at MIT.
anyway, i’m not going to spoil it for the rest of you by telling you the winner – i’ll just have to keep it to myself.

Laugh out Loud LOL
September 27, 2006
busy watching Laugh out Loud on MNET. I think it’s the first of the new series. VERY FUNNY.
however the mnet site says 24th july next to the details, so it might just be the first episode of the new series that I’M watching!!
Jeremy Mansfield is back with another comedian who I think might be filling in for this episode. as the MNET website says that Darryn Simpson are back as presenters – but it doesn’t seem to be Darryn.
check out mnet for the details

About 2 months ago, Lisa and I spent the weekend in Pringle Bay. Lisa’s a freelance travel writer and although they have published a few of the articles she has submitted since then, they didn’t publish the article she wrote about that weekend.
Anyway, she just called me to tell me that not only was the article published in the Cape Argus today, but out of the many photo’s she submitted with the article, they chose to print the photo of me having breakfast.
It was an amazing breakfast spot – we were at a 5 star B&B called moonstruck, where the breakfast table overlooks the Pringle Bay.

And I still had my beard…
in Durbs
September 20, 2006
just arrived in Durban – will be here for 2 weeks for the festivals. i was only in Cape Town for 4 days, and didn’t stop running as had so many errands to sort out. Just before I left for overseas, my roof in my flat had to be fixed as it was leaking, so i moved all my furniture to my 2nd bedroom.
And when i arrived back, the roof was fixed, but the blinds hadn’t been put back. So within 2 hours, my amazing landlord had arranged for the blinds to be put up and the sorting began to get the flat back to home status.
But i won’t get time to enjoy my place in Cape Town for awhile, as i’m now enjoying home comforts in Durbs for the next 2 weeks.
Back in South Africa
September 15, 2006
Well, after 5 weeks i’m finally back in South Africa. I spent 2 weeks in Asia on a buying trip with Eran for the E2 Store, and then headed to the UK, Belgium and Czech with Lisa. Prague was incredible. We spent day 1 doing a tour of the old Jewish Town, day 2 doing a general tour of the city and day 3 we were at Terzinestad, a work camp during the 2nd World War, being shown around by a holocaust survivor – a gentleman names Paul who is one of the most inspirational people i’ve ever met. I bought his autobiography and will be reading it in the next few weeks.
